Geospatial “stuff” and DH

I have a social science, environmental studies background, and I’ve used and taught GIS. Recently, I’ve been interested in more user friendly mapping tools such as Google Earth. I’m curious if/how Geospatial tools fit into DH. My school is just starting a big DH initiative.

About Peter Rogers

I'm a recovering political science (UFlorida PhD 2002) who is now a Reference and Instruction Librarian after several years teaching in the field of Environmental Studies. I have experience teaching GIS, and I'm particularly interested in the politics of maps and counter-maps. I'm a big fan of board wargames and am currently playing La Bataille des Quatre Bras, http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12896/la-bataille-des-quatre-bras

    Peter,
    .
I am wrestling with SIMILE Exhibit’s map API application. My javascript/HTML 5 skills are not well developed, but I am willing to learn and have a dataset ready to go with an older version of Exhibit. If you’re interested in collaborating, I’d love to talk with you. I have a bit of a deadline to get this working – a faculty member is interested in using it for one of her summer courses.

  2. I am interested in this topic — working with faculty members on Neatline/GeoServer options, Google Fusion and/or Exhibit. But it’s up against the DH commons session. Decisions, decisions.
