My academic background is in U.S. Urban History, having studied under Kenneth T. Jackson at Columbia in the 90s before moving to public history and cultural heritage interpretive projects in New York and Missouri. It was in this latter endeavor that I started to engage more with the problems of sharing museum information with today's stakeholders in a way that was sustainable and achievable with few resources. My background in technology increased at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I studied LIS and balanced a more traditional library focus on content areas and organization with text encoding and schema, project management, and the poetics of information processing. I did not become a very good coder, despite my best efforts, and in fact now have a very traditional job title. Nonetheless, it is my responsibility to interpret my role going forward and I see THATCAMP as a way to make my time in Indianapolis more interesting.
